Monetize with Canep Media
Canep Media has been a great addition to my monetization for my proxies. Canep pays via CPM and has 6 different types of ad spots. They have a banner, leaderboard, medium rectangle, skyscraper, wide sky scraper and popunders. I have tried out 4 out of the 6 methods personally, and here is my thoughts on each. First though let me say I get about 90-95% US. Canep pays well with US traffic, but rates are basically non existent with Iran/China traffic and the like. So if you have mostly US traffic you will do well with Canep. If you have mostly Iran/China Traffic then you will do poorly with Canep. Please note these rates are in no way, shape or form guaranteed or even implied that you will get these rates. These rates are simply the rates I experienced, your rates may vary.
Banner: paid well, about $.10 - $.13 CPM
Leaderboard: paid better, about $.20 - $.24 CPM
Medium Rectangle paid well, $.24 - $.28 CPM
Pop Unders: Paid very well, but with a catch $.38 - $.42 CPM
The catch with the popunders is that most popup blockers including the built in ones in FireFox will block their popunders every time. I contacted them about it and they do it on purpose. Their goal is for customer satisfaction. They figure if someone has installed a popup blocker that they don’t want popups. Therefor Canep does not try to force popunders on them. That is actually a good busines practice, and I respect them for it. However it does not put money in either your pocket or mine. To that end I would not reccommend that you use Canep’s popunders unless you don’t have anyone else’s popunders to use. They use them as some money is better then none, I did make a small amount from them, but it was not a lot.
I would definitely recommend using Canep’s banners. I use the leaderboard at the top of my proxified pages. I get about 250,000 proxified page views per day so I make a few hundred per month from Canep. If you have more or less impressions you will make more or less respectively. However if you have ad spot that is not being used any income is better then nothing. So if you have unfilled ad space try Canep. Any comments, anyone had any other experiences with Canep or others?
Thanks for visiting!

I’ve been using Canep on the proxified pages for a couple of weeks and have been impressed so far, with a nice eCPM
It’s just a shame they have low fill rates.

I’m getting about $0.06 eCPM and it troubles me because most of my traffic is from the US! Seems like it should be a bit more. (only using the leaderboard)

I’m confused. I created a banner with Canep, and I’ve added in my home page (of my proxy)
When I see the reports, there is a column that read CTR. Why Sould I care CTR if there is a CPM banner? CPM banner mean that I get paid for every 1000 impression, or for every click?

Well that info is general info it displays. It kind of helps you regulate how well an ad is performing, but really its there for the advertiser. You just get to see it. Bottom line is your are right, you get paid on per 1000 impressions. So all you really care about is your total impressions, your ecpm (rate at which you get paid per 1000 impressions) and your total dollars you earned. Just ignore the rest.

Tom, you are correct, Canep sometimes does have a little lower fill rate. However I have put them neck in neck with other companies and not only is their fill rate better, their ecpm is better. For banners anyway. They beat out Freedom of Ads, Global Interactive, Media Shakers, and Axill. The bottom line is, I still make more money with Canep on Banners then anyone else, and thats what counts for me.
